Cover Crops for Home Gardens
In the spring, as soon as the ground
dries enough for tilling or plowing, turn
the cover crop under. To allow time for
the organic matter to decompose, turn
the cover crop under at least 3 weeks
before you intend to plant. If the cover
crop is too tall to turn under easily, mow
it first.

The Pursuit of Happiness Rightly Understood
God, when he created matter, and endowed it with a principle of mobility, established certain rules for the perpetual direction of that motion; so, when he created man, and endowed him with free will to conduct himself in all parts of life, he laid down certain immutable laws of human nature, whereby that free will is in some degree regulated and restrained, and gave him also the faculty of reason to discover the purport of those laws.

Mowing with Scythes
I got my scythe from a small business in Maine (Scythesupply). They also sell a great book called “The Scythe Book” by David Tressemer that contains all the information you need on scythe mowing. There are also several incredible videos on YouTube (search under scytheman8) which helped me a lot.

.Evening Prayer to the Holy Family
"Blessed Virgin Mary, graciously bless the mother of our family. Help her to be pure and kind, gentle and self-sacrificing, for the more she resembles you, the better will our family be.
"Saint Joseph, mercifully bless the head of our family. Graciously obtain for him the strength, the wisdom and the prudence to support and direct those under his care.
"Lord Jesus, lovingly bless the children of our family. Help them grow in obedience and devotion to their parents. Guide and guard their hearts, ever holding them close to Your Sacred Heart.
"Holy Family of Nazareth, tenderly make our family and home more and more like yours until we are all One Family, happy and at peace with You in our True Home in Heaven."
Amen.

Alone The decline of the family has unleashed an epidemic of loneliness.
In 1950, 20 percent of marriages ended in divorce; today, it’s approximately 40 percent. Four in ten American children are now born to unmarried mothers, up from about 5 percent in 1960. In 1970, 84 percent of U.S. children spent their entire childhoods living with both bio-parents. Today, only half can expect to do the same.
***
According to the 2018 Cigna study, single parents are about the loneliest of Americans.
***
For a fuller picture of the brave new kinless world, consider Japan, a country now in the throes of an epidemic of kodokushi, roughly translated as “lonely deaths.” Local Japanese papers regularly publish stories about kinless elderly whose deaths go unnoticed until the telltale smell of maggot-eaten flesh alerts neighbors.
***
The Second Demographic Transition offered relief from many of life’s most palpable miseries: hectoring or depressed wives, abusive or sullen or just hapless husbands, controlling relatives, and taboos on premarital and gay sex.
***
Opioids are now the leading cause of death for people under 50: a majority of them are unmarried or divorced men. Though only 32 percent of the population, that group of adults accounts for a stunning 71 percent of opioid deaths.
