While I always supported the overall message and energy that encompassed the Occupy Wall Street movement, I never backed the slogan of the 1% vs. the 99%. From my own personal experience, it is entirely clear that the actual problem is a far smaller group within the 1%, the 0.1% or the 0.01% (although I recognize “We Are the 99.9%” isn’t catchy).

The Coming Paradigm Shift on Climate

In its most recent AR5 of 2013, the IPCC has dropped all previous pieces of evidence and instead concentrates on trying to prove that the reported surface warming between 1978 and 2000 agrees with a warming predicted by climate models.  This so-called proof turns out to be a weak reed indeed.  The reported warming applies only to surface (land-based) weather stations and is not seen in any other data set; the weather satellite data that measure atmospheric temperature show no significant trend -- neither do proxy data (from analysis of tree rings, ocean/lake sediments, stalagmites, etc)

Fed’s Mortgage Holdings May Dampen Future Bond Sell-Offs, Fed Says

If yields rise, chances for the rapid increases in rates are fewer because the Fed isn’t inclined to hedge its $1.6 trillion in mortgage bonds against rising rates, the New York Fed economists said. Leaving the Fed portfolio with no hedges, or “infrequently” hedged, reduces the type of trading that is often blamed for exacerbating bond selling, they said.

Mortgage bond hedges, which in times of falling rates include purchases of Treasury securities, are typically unwound when rates rise, causing yields to increase further. The cycle can repeat itself, as it did in 1994 and 2003 when 10-year Treasury yields rose about 2.5 percentage points and 1.5 percentage points, respectively, the economists said.

When mortgage rates fall, some investors buy Treasurys because more homeowners will refinance and prepay their loans, depriving mortgage bond investors of securities with higher income. Rising mortgage rates cut refinancing, extending the time that investors will receive below-market returns.

The Fed’s decision not to hedge its mortgage bonds has a greater impact as its influence over the $5.4 trillion “agency” MBS market has grown, the economists said.

Here Comes The Wage And Price Controls

Yet today President Obama is set to lauch another far more obvious form.

The central planner-in-chief is going to sign an Executive Order to require employers to expand overtime pay in the Land of the Free. This, on top of his recent proposal to increase the minimum wage 39% to $10.10 per hour (not that there’s any inflation).

Obviously this ‘decree by executive order’ strategy shows the political system for what it is: there is no republic, there are no checks and balances, there is no adherence to the Constitution.

They do whatever they want, however they want, with total immunity.

The troubling part about this executive order (aside from being yet another soon-to-fail wage control) is that it essentially abrogates millions of work contracts across the country.

One pro-life group was asked to “explain in detail” the activities conducted at its prayer meetings.
