Mr. Coleman and Haden made a series of groundbreaking albums for the label in 1959 and 1960—"The Shape of Jazz to Come," "Change of the Century," "This Is Our Music" and "Free Jazz." On these recordings, Haden's powerful sense of time, harmony and imagination are still evident, serving as a warm counterbalance to the surging urgency of the other instruments.
