One concerning issue is there is some talk of separating the food assistance programs from the Farm Bill. Approximately 75% of the last Farm Bill budget went towards nutrition and food assistance programs, including SNAP (i.e. food stamps), senior farmers market vouchers, emergency food assistance, Native American food distribution programs, fresh produce for public schools, and more. Over a quarter of all Americans receive one or more of these benefits.
