More Likely to Be Aborted Than to Be Born

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 45 percent of preborn black babies were aborted in the United States in 2007 (the most recent year for which federal statistics are available). By comparison, the same report shows that approximately 16 percent of white babies were aborted in 2007 in the U.S.  In some urban areas, the number is much higher. In New York City, 60 percent of all black pregnancies ended in abortion in 2009, according to the city’s health department.
